KPI Parameter Description

Working and Idle Hours

Long Idle Time

Duration of an asset engaged in idling with no movement for more than nine minutes.

Medium Idle Time

Duration of an asset engaged in idling with no movement between six and nine minutes.

Short Idle Time

Duration of an asset engaged in idling with no movement between three and six minutes.

Working Time Percentage


An asset may report total runtime values without working time. If so, working time percentage for that asset will not consider the working time value. 

Sum of the working duration of the respective site’s assets ÷ Sum of the total duration (working + idle) * 100.

Working time is defined as sum of working hours for all assets based on the selected date range and asset tag.

Total duration is defined as sum of working hours and substates (long, medium and short idling hours) of all assets based on the selected date range and asset tag.

Idle Time

Total sum of idling hours (productive + short + medium + long) for all assets based on the selected date range and asset tag.


Productive idle time (idling less than three minutes) data isn't displayed as a distinct value on Site Summary Utilization. However, it is included while calculating Idle Time

Long Idle Percentage

Sum of long idling duration of the respective site’s assets ÷ Sum of the total duration (working + idle) * 100.

Long idle is defined as asset engaged in idling with no movement for more than nine minutes.

Medium Idle Percentage

Sum of medium idling duration of the respective site’s assets ÷ Sum of the total duration (working + idle) * 100.

Medium idle is defined as asset engaged in idling with no movement for more than six to nine minutes.

Short Idle Percentage

Sum of short idling duration of the respective site’s assets ÷ Sum of the total duration (working + idle) * 100.

Short idle is defined as asset engaged in idling with no movement for more than three to six minutes.

Productive Idle Percentage

Sum of working idling hours of the respective site's assets ÷ Sum of the total duration (working + idle) * 100.

Working idle is defined as asset engaged in idling with no movement for less than three minutes.

Total Idle Percentage

Sum of idling time (productive + short + medium + long) of the respective site’s assets ÷ Sum of the total time (working + idle) * 100.

Idle time is defined as asset engaged in idling with no movement from less than three minutes to more than nine minutes.


Total Idle Percentage displays only for Loader – Load & Haul, Support and Load Out asset tags.
• An asset may report total runtime values without idle (short, medium, long or productive) time. If so, total idle percentage for that asset will not consider any idle time value.

Working and Idle Fuel Burn

Fuel Burn

Fuel used by an asset on a site.

Fuel Burn Rate

Fuel burned by all the assets on a site ÷ Maximum site operation time.

Example: In a site, if Machine 01 burns 150 gallons and works 9:00am-12:00pm (3 hours) and Machine 02 burns 150 gallons and works 12:00-3:00pm (3 hours), the fuel burn rate will be 50 gal/hr or 300 gallons (the total burned by both machines) divided by six hours (the time at least one of the machines was operating, i.e., 9:00am-3:00pm)

Idle Fuel Percentage

Sum of idle fuel burned ÷ total fuel burned of all the assets in respective site * 100.

Idle Fuel Burn

Sum of all fuel burned for the assets during long, medium and short idling hours in respective site for the selected date range and asset tag.

Total Fuel Burn

Sum of all fuel burned during working, productive and substates (long, medium and short) idling hours in respective site for the selected date range and asset tag.
